چکیده

In this paper, we consider a proportional delay model for Internet differentiated services. Under this model, an ISP can control the “spacing” of waiting times between different classes of traffic. Specifically, the ISP tries to ensure that the average waiting time of class traffic relative to that of class traffic is consistently a specifiable ratio. If the ratio is less than one, the ISP can legitimately charge users of class traffic a higher tariff rate (compared to the rate for class traffic), since class users consistently enjoy better performance than class users. We use time-dependent priority scheduling to realize the proportional delay model. We formally characterize the feasible regions in which given delay ratios can be achieved. Moreover, a set of scheduling parameters for obtaining the desired delay ratios can be determined by an efficient control algorithm. Experiments are carried out to illustrate the short-term, medium-term and long-term relative waiting time performances for different service classes.

A Differentiated Pricing Framework for Improving the Performance of the Elastic Traffics in Data Networks

Rate allocation has become a demanding task in data networks as diversity in users and traffics proliferate. Most commonly used algorithm in end hosts is TCP. This is a loss based scheme therefore it exhibits oscillatory behavior which reduces network performance. Moreover, since the price for all sessions is based on the aggregate throughput, losses that are caused by TCP affect other sessions...

Channel-Adaptive GPS Scheduling for Heterogeneous Multimedia in CDMA Networks

Wireless packet-scheduling is a crucial component for providing quality of service (QoS) in CDMA networks. In this paper, we propose channel-adaptive rate-scheduling based on Generalized Processor Sharing (CAGPS) to guarantee minimum service rate and to provide proportional fairness among heterogeneous multimedia traffic for QoS differentiation. The CA-GPS scheduler assigns different GPS weight...

Performance Evaluation of the Particle Swarm Optimized Fuzzy Logic Congestion Detection Mechanism in Proportional Differentiated Services IP Networks

Abstract—A Particle Swarm optimized Fuzzy Logic Congestion Detection (FLCD) was recently proposed for best-effort service networks. This algorithm synergically combines the good characteristics of traditional Active Queue Management (AQM) algorithms and fuzzy logic based AQM algorithms. Its membership functions are designed automatically by using a Multi-objective Particle Swarm Optimization (M...

Internet network design for quality of service guarantee using Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA)

By developing the new services such as VoIP and Videoconference, using a mechanism is needed to support the quality of service of the application programs. Different models have been presented to guarantee the quality of service. Among these, the differentiated services can be mentioned which was presented by IETF. In the architecture of the differentiated services, no admission control mechani...

An Overlay-based Congestion Management for Differentiated Services Network

This paper presents a new overlay-based congestion management mechanism that provides the proportional fairness among competing aggregates and the improvement in packet loss ratio for Differentiated Services (DiffServ) network. In the proposed scheme, a QoS control packet is sent from the ingress to the egress router every fixed time interval. The ingress router employs a simple additive increa...
